Types of Massages

I can perform standard massage modalities (Swedish and Deep Tissue) but specialize in corrective body work:

  • Orthopedic Massage Therapy: A mixture of muscle resting length restoration; scar tissue softening and realignment; fascial adhesion reduction; and low velocity joint manipulations/mobilizations all combined to combat previous or current soft tissue injuries (sprains and strains), joint impairments, and a plethora of other painful and limiting conditions such as carpal tunnel, sciatica, headaches, migraines, TMJ disorder, knee pain, etc.
  • Neuromuscular/Trigger Point Therapy: Massage technique detailed to release specific muscular spasms that cause muscle pain, weakness and atrophying along with numerous other bodily disorders. This technique uses your body's natural response to pain in order to release endorphins that disengage chronic muscular contractions. (Minimal amount of pain is actually elicited which immediately begins to disspate)
  • Proprioceptive Neuromuscular Facilitation (PNF): Application of Active and Passive stretching accompanied by antagonistic resistance to both increase range of motion and lengthen short, taught bands of soft tissue, while strengthening weak and inhibited muscle groups. Also known as "Muscle Energy Technique" or "MET"
  • Assessment/Intervention Plan: Process of determining the source(s) of an issue and educating the client with “at home” self-care (preventative and corrective stretching and strengthening exercises) to help overall postural and proprioceptive balance.
